OFW sought help online with a video showing her bruises and scratches after taking abuse from her employer

Many Filipinos choose to work abroad because of their destitute life in the Philippines. Many aspire to earn money abroad to be able to send their children to school, and improve the lives of their whole family. It may seem easy for some people, thinking that living abroad is a method of OFW’s to get away from the impoverished life in the Philippines—think again.

Poor working conditions for Filipino people hired abroad include long hours, low wages and few chances to visit family. Women often face disadvantages in their employment conditions as they tend to work in the elder/child care and domestic. Since the number of OFW’s is continuously rising, many women are forced to work doing men’s jobs. Some are forced to work under “bad” employers—including this OFW who sought help online.

OFW sought help online with a video showing her bruises and scratches after taking abuse from her employer

Facebook user Jae Ann Harayo Ferolin uploaded a video on her account, asking for help from whoever can. The distressed woman was in tears as she shows scratches and bruises on her back and in different parts of her body as a result of taking abuse from her employer.

She was hoping somebody would help her get home, as her employer even had her salary on hold. Despite working abroad for just a month, Jae Ann wishes to come home after she experienced hell in the hands of her employer. Unfortunately, she does not know that exact address where she is currently working and staying. She says she wants to see her children once more.
