TURN AN ORDINARY DINNER FORK INTO EXTRA STRENGTH PORTABLE DOOR LOCK

We saw how to use the rubber band to make a stay unlocked the door, but the video below reverses it for other safety purposes.

YouTube user Phil Crockett came up with a brilliant way to lock the door by changing a dinner fork. The "fork lock," however, is easy to do, and it is very useful when wanting to add a little extra security in a motel room, public bathrooms (often with broken locks), or any internal or external doors.

All you need to assemble this DIY project is a dinner fork with two-inch prongs, a vice, and a saw. The handle of the fork should be able to fit between the prongs of the fork. Essentially, you are just bending the forks, and within minutes you have an amazingly simple door lock. The man is a genius!

The great thing is fork lock pretty much works just about every type of door. So once you've made yourself one, you do not have to make another!
