Mystery sea monster with fur and beak washes up on a beach Marine biologists have are baffled by this strange creature, with pictures that went viral on Russian social media The mystery sea monster with a beak like a bird and fur on its tail has reportedly washed up on a beach, bewildering marine bilogists.

The remnants of the huge creature had been found in the Russian Far East on a remote beach of Sakhalin Island, a place which is much closer to the United States than Moscow.

With a blood soaked carcass shredded apart and bones jutting, marine biologists have yet to classify the strange prehistoric-like monster, which has the same anatomy to a dolphin but is twice as large as a human being. Photos on the Siberian Times website show what appears to be a thick long hair dangling off the creature's carcass, a peculiar characteristic that has baffled marine biologists.

Nikolay Kim, deputy head of the Forecasting Department at the Sakhalin Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography, said he believed it to be "a huge dolphin like creature". Given the characteristics of the epidermis, it is a rare specie, Mr Kim said. "I highly doubt that it lived in our waters. Most likely, the animal was brought by a warm current." "We often find tropical and subtropical species here in Sakhalin and some of them are trapped on winter and freeze to death," Mr Kim say. And based on my observations I can definitely say that this is some kind of a dolphin.

However this creature is baffling because of its fur and It's unusual. Dolphins does not have fur. images of the weird carcass have gone viral on Russian social media, with many local people debating as to what the animal really is. A local said: "It looked like it came from a monster film a mutant sea monster with a beak." Some people claim it to be a Ganges River dolphin, which normally found in freshwater regions of India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. One online comment jokes, Most Probably our summer here in Russia is so cold that even the Indian dolphins getting into local waters are now covered in fur. 

With a small triangular hump instead of a dorsal fin, a brown colour and the tendency to swim on their sides, Ganges dolphins are different from other typical species of dolphins. Dolphins have no fur and only grow to about 8ft in length and much smaller than the remains found on the Russian coastline. Dolphins have about 40 species in the world with the largest being the Orca or commonly known as the Killer Wale which grows up to 31ft long, and some species live in the amazon river basin. Maui's dolphin or popoto s the world's rarest and smallest known species of dolphin. According to a famous marine park, dolphins normally are born with small hairs but shed it shortly after birth.
